Homemade Bubble Solution

Great fun for parties!
Homemade bubble solution with pipe cleaner wands
What you will make:

Playing with soap bubbles is pure fun and fascinates even the youngest child—cats and dogs, too. It's amazingly simple to mix a bubble solution from just a few ingredients. This solution can be used with bubble wands made from pipe cleaners, but it's even more fun to find things around the house to use for blowing bubbles.

Here's what you need:
  • ½ cup (180 ml) dishwashing liquid
  • 4½ cups (1 liter) water
  • 4 tablespoons (90 ml) glycerin
  • Container with lid for bubble solution
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spoon for mixing
  • Optional: Corn syrup, pipe cleaners, and bowls or any shallow container.

This recipe is rated VERY EASY to make.

How to Make Homemade Bubble Solution

Read all of the directions before starting.
  1. Measure out the dishwashing liquid, water and glycerin. Pour all ingredients into the container. (Light corn syrup can be substituted for the glycerin.)
  2. Very gently, stir the mixture. If any foam forms, gently skim it away.
  3. Find something to use for blowing bubbles—a bubble wand, a slotted spoon. Look around the kitchen for things with holes.
  4. Optional: Make a bubble wand by twisting a pipe cleaner (chenille stem) into a a small loop. To make a perfect circle, wrap the pipe cleaner around a small bottle, tube, or spool.

To use it: Dip the bubble wand in the bubble solution and gently blow to make bubbles. (Pour the solution into containers that allow for easy dipping.)

    Tips:
    • Halve the recipe for a smaller amount of solution, or double it for more.
    • The longer you let the mixture set, the larger the bubbles are, and the longer they seem to last.

That's it! Have fun blowing bubbles!
